PALMER LAKE RESERVOIR

We explored a new area today North of Colorado Springs and had a wonderful time with the boys.  For years, I have wanted to make a rock collection of all of our adventures so since we have moved here, I started a "Colorado" collection.
The hike to Palmer Lake Reservoir was the perfect distance for the boys.
We made it to the first reservoir and found a little island to call our own for the day.  We had a ton of fun watching the boys explore.
August doing his thing on the island;)
Canyon is our most cautious of the bunch but loves to "carefully" climb on everything he can.
This beautiful butterfly loved Sawyer's shoes and kept coming right up to them.
You can not fish in this reservoir but you can "catch" them:)
This is what happens when I eat...everyone wants to eat MY food.
The last few hikes I have really enjoyed creating words. I haven't shared many of them, but this one I share today.  We haven't physically gone to church in a very long time, but my favorite "church" is outside where I feel the most connected to God.
The boys today were very connected to each other.  Canyon and Sawyer especially.
Canyon wanted Sawyer to experience the rocks and made sure to help him the entire time.
Our time with Greg, aka "daddy" is always fun and we look forward to it!
 Finding beautiful flowers:)
 Brothers.
Out of about 20 attempts...this was the best we could do:)
Helping his brother cross the water:)
 Our brown eyed handsome boy.
We had a full, fun day on our island.
Heading back to the car we made lots of shadow puppets on the ground.

 The family shadow.
After a perfect day, we ended it with ice cream at a cute little local place in Palmer Lake.

On the way home we encountered a massive storm and came home to ground covered in hail.
So thankful we missed it but it was a beautiful sight to see:)
