Our summer vacation was spent here in Colorado and we are blessed to call it home. We started out on Saturday late in the afternoon and drove to Buena Vista to camp for the night!
This was a glimpse of the moon that night.
We could easily live in Buena Vista. It is our kinda town without a doubt! We found a cute place to have breakfast and coffee and then found a gear store and had early morning ice cream.
We explored the trails.
Found a boulder park.
And watched some paddlers surf the waves in the Arkansas River.
Later that day we drove to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison and found this fun park on our way to have a snack break.
We found a great little spot at the bottom of the Canyon and set up camp. We took a little walk along the Gunnison River and threw some rocks in the water.
You can't go camping without s'mores.
We ignored how many marshmallows they roasted :)
The next morning Sawyer and I went for a little bike ride further down the canyon and watched the sun light up the canyon walls. We saw butterflies everywhere, a snake and some squirrels on our journey.
We packed up camp and checked out the rim of the Canyon before heading to Ouray.
Nature Art...my favorite.
Posing
Painted Walls
Exploring the edge.
Our climber. We left for Ouray and soon after we set up camp, we took a long nap in the rain and headed downtown for some pizza and burgers.
The next morning we found a nice place to have breakfast followed by a hike to Box Canyon Falls.
Climbing our way to the falls.
There is a fee to see this waterfall but without the walkway, we wouldn't have the opportunity to see it close up!
Box Canyon Falls
The boys.
Exploring the area.
We rode the bikes to the falls and then headed to the Hot Springs Pool to enjoy the water before the daily storm hit!
On our way to the pool:)
The water in this pool was super warm.
August was a huge fan!
The boys had to pass a swim test to go on this course and Sawyer was the only one to embrace it. It was a ton of fun racing him.
There was nothing easy about it...
Lots of laughter and Sawyer kicked both of our butts!
My loves.
After swim surprise. Feeding the fish and turtles.
Playing at the park before heading out.
What grumpy looks like!
We found a Thai place that we had dinner at and then did a late evening hike up to Cascade Falls.
One part of Ouray we loved was our ability to walk everywhere.
We put a lot of miles on our feet!
Sawyer
Kinda love them!!
Walking back to camp from the falls.
We had flip flop feet after this trip!!
The next day we took a drive up Camp Bird Road and explored some of the most beautiful country I have seen in a long time.
We were surrounded by waterfalls, wildflowers, mountain peaks and gorgeous clouds.
The boys.
Wildflowers were everywhere.
Love is fun to find....it's everywhere if you have your eyes open.
Canyon Gregory
It was this amazing and more.
Beauty.
More beauty.
The most.
It was about this time I lost my phone...
We searched and searched and put on some miles but we finally found it near this spot where I had set it down to tinkle:)
Playing on the rocks.
The falls
The best kind of play.
Streams of water everywhere.
Taking it all in.
We ended our day with another meal at our favorite Thai place and lots of beautiful memories.
Our last day we took a drive to Ridgeway State Park to do a little paddle boarding before making our way to Telluride. The boys saw the play equipment and never made it to the water.
I took advantage of the small window of sun and paddled away.
The view was gorgeous.
Taking a water break.
We made our way to Telluride and had to do a little downtown shopping while waiting for the rain to stop.
Another steep and rough road took us up to some stunning terrain for us to explore.
Another hike full of waterfalls, wildflowers and unbelievable views.
Everywhere you looked...
you could find water...
and waterfalls.
and wildflowers...
and views...

August Vernon and his daddy.
This would be our last adventure for our trip so we made sure to truly take it in.
We knew we would be seeing more rain come so we started to head back to the truck.
Ouray was a great place for us to set up camp with so much stuff to do in the area.
We enjoyed our morning walks to find breakfast and coffee and our evening walks to get dinner and ice cream.
We had rain and storms multiple times a day but we managed to time things just right....
and when we couldn't....we jumped right in and danced in the rain. It didn't stop our joy or our fun.
Our Thai place that we ate at 4 times:)
Non stop ice cream for these boys....was our excuse to get our evening coffee:)
This is how we all felt when we had to go home. Great memories and amazing moments to cherish for a lifetime.
